Hello!

Sorry for the lack of lists last week, friends! After considering various options to solve our website problems, CAC has opted to move to our very own server (the move will be happening a.s.a.p.). It seems that with our incredible growth over the past while (including over 1000 members in the few short months since we’ve introduced that feature, as well as an ever-expanding readership, content, and resources), we needed to make the investment to keep CAC running as best as we can.

This change means that the big plans that were going to be launched on October 1st will instead gradually be announced over the next few weeks and months. Be sure to check back daily so you don’t miss any of the exciting new changes and amazing opportunities!

For now, here’s a MASSIVE job list with plenty of professional possibilities to begin your week with.

Have a wonderful day!

Desirée

Hello!

A couple of days ago, I asked what you think the funniest movie ever made is. Now as TIFF has rolled around again, I’m wondering…

What is your favourite movie that has been shown at the Toronto International Film Festival?

Are you seeing anything new this year?

I’d love to hear your answer in the comments below (or share over Twitter & Facebook) and be sure to take a look at the wonderful list of job opportunities below.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

Yesterday was a big day for a lot of us as many headed back to school and those of us getting back to work faced a new day, week, month and season all at once. As we all delve into the dizzying pace of daily life, it’s important to slow down every once in a while and perhaps even do something fun.

Tonight, after I get all my work done, I plan to watch a funny movie. So my question today is…

In your opinion, what is the funniest movie ever made?

Please let us know in the comments below (or share over Twitter & Facebook) and be sure to take a look at the awesome list of job opportunities below.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

Have you ever experienced that “I wish *I* had thought of that!” feeling? Perhaps it’s a piece of art or line of a song. Maybe an idea for a story or theme for a play. I’m sure at one point or another we all have felt something like this.

So today my question is…

What is the one piece of work (art, song, book, etc.) by someone else that you wish YOU had created?

I’d love to hear your answers in the comments below (and we always get plenty of response over Twitter and Facebook as well). And be sure to also check out the great list of job opportunities I have for you today.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

Simon!

I had a very exciting few days last week that included meeting someone special, an interview, endless preparations, calls & texts & emails, and finally on Friday, I brought home my new dog!

Simon (full name: Simon Cool Ziggy Hayward Ossandon as named by my two little ones) is a two year old black retriever that came to us from our amazing local humane society.

We’re thrilled!

We have a cat, Tut, but after our other cat, Baya, passed away earlier this year, we were really looking forward to welcoming a new pet into our home.

So today my question is about pets and other animals (whether friend or foe).

Do animals inspire your art?

I’d love to hear your answers below (and perhaps even hear about your pets and animal-themed work) after you check out the great list of jobs I have for you today.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

Years ago, a co-worker took at peek at the book I was reading during my lunch-break and asked what I thought of it. “It’s good,” I replied. “Of course, I’ve read it at least five times, so I already know it’s good.” I held up the copy of my book to show him how worn it was from the multiple readings.

“Why would you re-read it if you already know how it’s going to end?” He couldn’t understand any of the reasons I gave him and eventually I tried, “It’s the same as watching a movie you love over and over again.” He replied with a blank stare.

I know I’m not the only one who likes to indulge in old favourites (perhaps many times over). So my question today is…

What book(s) do you re-read?

I’d love to hear your answers in the comments below after you check out the great list of job opportunities I have for you.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

I asked two question over the last couple of days (here & here) and got a great response.

Check them out:

.

What is the role of art? Is it different than the role of the artist?

“The role of art is to exist. Challenge, question, support, beautify, testify, et cetera. Not even the artist can guarantee what it will be. Too many factors… Time, culture, politics, history; it’s all organic.” - Mat Calverley

“The role of art is to inspire, explore and illuminate the truth.” - Brittney Francis

“provoke fun, thought & interest. Without art, life would be dull. The role of the artist is to create & share with the world.” - Nav Sehambhi

“The role of art is to uplift people’s spirits. The role of the artist is to attain artistic perfection.” - LorraineHétuManifold

“‘protect the origins of language and culture’” - karhiio

.

What is the role of the artist?

“create a pathway to experience.” - dsharpdavis

“”The Role of the artist is to make their own stylized comment on the state of humanity”" - Natalia Knowlton

“the role of the artist is to suspend time, even if just for a moment.” - Jacqueline Woods

“the role of the artist is to evoke, invoke and provoke” - Bartlett Gallery

“the artist is there to express themselves through their art and allow others to relate” - Staverous Cardini

“…poke into the edges we haven’t gone into or dare not go into.” - Maggie Shirley

“The role of the artist is to fill in the blank.” - Peggy MacKinnon

“connect” - Appy Aparnski

(We had many, many more answers, so I couldn’t include them all in this post).

Do you agree/disagree with any of the above? Have thoughts of your own on the subject? Be sure to let us know in the comments below after you’ve taken a look at the awesome list of job opportunities I have for you today.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

Yesterday I asked what you thought the role of an artist is. Today I’m wondering what you think the role of art is. Does art itself have a different intent/responsibility than the artist creating the work?

Fill in the blank:

“The role of art is to _____________.” Is it different than the role of the artist?

Hello!

SUBMIT YOUR ART TO BE FEATURED ON CAC! We have a NEW place to add your art for our lists! To make things easier to submit your art to be featured on our job lists and calls for submissions & auditions lists, we’ve added an album here on the website (so members no longer have to use the outside Flickr group).

We’d love to feature all kinds of work – from photographers to accessories designers to painters to landscape designers.

Each day a piece will randomly be chosen to be the featured art appearing on our job lists or calls for submissions & auditions lists on the front page of our website and is promoted over our Twitter, Facebook, and the Members Activity area of our website.

Click here to add your art now or visit: http://canadaartsconnect.com/forums/topic/list-art/

Hello!

Creating your art is often only the first step in the process of getting it out to the public. Websites and services exist to help in that regard, and we’re interested in what you think of them.

Have you ever sold your designs on products/merch through Cafepress or Zazzle?

What are your thoughts on either or both sites?

We’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments below!

Have a wonderful day!
