Thankfully I realized this ahead of time, but often my unusual work schedule means that I’m unaware of certain dates and happenings. And even if I do remember that it’s a holiday, I usually work through it anyway — such is the nature of working for yourself and running an independent arts biz/community. How about you?

This weekend I found myself contemplating a move and although I’m not sure if/where/when it will happen, it had me thinking about the flexibility of my current job and lifestyle. If I wanted to, I could relocate to practically anywhere in the country (or beyond, I suppose).

Not that it’s anything new, but I’ve noticed a lot of “The point of art is…” and “It’s an artist’s responsibility to…” statements lately and it always interests me when people make definitive remarks about something that can mean/do so many things. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately so thought I’d ask your thoughts.
