Stained Glass Window - ba1969

Hello!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I managed to spend time with family, go on a mini road-trip, and get LOTS of CAC work done.

Did you head to a cottage or take a trip? Spend some time with family? Perhaps attend an event? Maybe work on some of your art or projects?

My question today is…

How did you spend the long weekend? Did you do anything artistic or creative?

I’d love to hear what you were up to in the comments below (or share over Twitter & Facebook) and be sure to take a look at the long list of job opportunities below.

Remember to also check out today’s list of calls for submissions & auditions which will be up right after this post.

Have a wonderful day!

Desirée

Hello!

I’m regularly asked by CAC readers “how to get started” in one area of the arts or another, whether it be related to education, career, techniques, or other aspects of art.

One specific question I hear is how to start an art collection.

I’m asked if people should buy art because of the value of the piece or fame of the artist. I’m asked it people should start with small pieces, then move on to more daring examples. I’m asked for any advice on how to make smart purchases and good investments.

I’m curious how our community of artistic professionals (and art enthusiasts) began their own collections.

How did you start your own art collection?

How do you decide what you yourself buy and display?

Have a wonderful day!

Desirée

Hello!

Not that it’s anything new, but I’ve noticed a lot of “The point of art is…” and “It’s an artist’s responsibility to…” statements lately and it always interests me when people make definitive remarks about something that can mean/do so many things. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately so thought I’d ask your thoughts.

Fill in the blank:

“The role of the artist is to _____________.”

I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments below after you check out the great list of job opportunities I have for you.

Have a wonderful day!

How do you cool down when summer heats up?

Hello!

It’s been a hot summer so far, which can sometimes make work difficult. Brutal heat and humidity can equal stifling offices/sets/studios, cranky co-workers, and materials that refuse to set and dry.

How do you cope and work through the heat?

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

I tried to take some time off yesterday after weeks of pushing myself too hard and too far. Relaxing doesn’t always come easy for me and when I know there’s work to do, I can’t seem to chill out at all. What about you?

What are your tips for allowing yourself the proper downtime?

How do you get yourself to relax?

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

Our new columns have been creating a lot of buzz and yesterday another one launched.

With The Art of PR: Part 1 ”…you can expect stories focusing on both the after-hours aspects of being an artist–what fashion trends are in, for example–to practical career advice that deals with the more “fluffy” side of the artist lifestyle: building your brand, interview and working wardrobes, etc.

This week’s entry will focus on public relations in the art industry and tips specifically for artists on managing their public relations.”

Including an interview with Rebecca Webster of Webster Media Consulting.

Check it out by clicking here. And of course, we have a great list of jobs for you below.

Have a wonderful day!
