Hello!

Fonts are interesting, not only in themselves, but also in how people view them. Some people simply don’t notice fonts and couldn’t care less. Others are passionate about them. Seriously, don’t even get people started on Comic Sans ;)

But that leads me to our questions for today…

What fonts do you love/hate? Which do you use most often? And which do you use for what?

I’d love to hear your answers in the comments below (or share over Twitter & Facebook) and be sure to take a look at the list of great job opportunities below.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

Sorry for the lack of lists last week, friends! After considering various options to solve our website problems, CAC has opted to move to our very own server (the move will be happening a.s.a.p.). It seems that with our incredible growth over the past while (including over 1000 members in the few short months since we’ve introduced that feature, as well as an ever-expanding readership, content, and resources), we needed to make the investment to keep CAC running as best as we can.

This change means that the big plans that were going to be launched on October 1st will instead gradually be announced over the next few weeks and months. Be sure to check back daily so you don’t miss any of the exciting new changes and amazing opportunities!

For now, here’s a MASSIVE job list with plenty of professional possibilities to begin your week with.

Have a wonderful day!

As expected, the CAC community has been coming up with some great suggestions of articles and interviews they’d like to see on CAC Magazine as well as events they would be interested in seeing covered. Today we’re wondering…

Are there any books, albums, shows, etc. you would like Canada Arts Connect Magazine to review?

We’d love to hear your answers in the comments below, on Twitter at @CANArtsConnect or give us your feedback to all of our survey questions HERE.

Hello!

A couple of days ago, I asked what you think the funniest movie ever made is. Now as TIFF has rolled around again, I’m wondering…

What is your favourite movie that has been shown at the Toronto International Film Festival?

Are you seeing anything new this year?

Hello!

As you may have noticed, we’re still having website issues from time to time. With CAC growing as quickly as it is (which is awesome!), our host is struggling to keep up. If you have any problems, please try links a second time if they don’t work the first time around and although the site can be slow right now, it will work eventually if you just give it a little time. We’re sorry for any inconvience and thank you to everyone for being so patient!

So this brings us to my question for the day…

How do you keep focused when things don’t go your way?

I’d love to hear your answer in the comments below (or share over Twitter & Facebook) and be sure to take a look at the great list of job opportunities below.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

It’s a good idea to treat yourself every once in a while. Life is stressful, work is hard, and the pace that we we’re constantly moving at is enough to make anyone feel rough at times.

So my question today is…

What are your artistic indulgences? How do you treat yourself when it comes to creativity?

Please let us know in the comments below (or share over Twitter & Facebook) and be sure to take a look at the awesome list of job opportunities below.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

This weekend I found myself contemplating a move and although I’m not sure if/where/when it will happen, it had me thinking about the flexibility of my current job and lifestyle. If I wanted to, I could relocate to practically anywhere in the country (or beyond, I suppose).

So today my question is…

Why do you live/work where you do?

I’d be really interested to read your answers in the comments below (perhaps you can help me make up my mind on whether to stay, go, and where that might be). And be sure to take a look at the great list of opportunities on today’s list.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

Simon!

I had a very exciting few days last week that included meeting someone special, an interview, endless preparations, calls & texts & emails, and finally on Friday, I brought home my new dog!

Simon (full name: Simon Cool Ziggy Hayward Ossandon as named by my two little ones) is a two year old black retriever that came to us from our amazing local humane society.

We’re thrilled!

We have a cat, Tut, but after our other cat, Baya, passed away earlier this year, we were really looking forward to welcoming a new pet into our home.

So today my question is about pets and other animals (whether friend or foe).

Do animals inspire your art?

I’d love to hear your answers below (and perhaps even hear about your pets and animal-themed work) after you check out the great list of jobs I have for you today.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

Yesterday I asked: Should artists / musicians / actors / writers be role models?

Today I’m curious about what role you play and what responsibility you might have to those who admire you and your work.

Do you consider yourself a role model? Would you want to be?

I’d love to hear your answers and thoughts in the comments below after you check out the list of great job opportunities I have for you.

Hello!

Years ago, a co-worker took at peek at the book I was reading during my lunch-break and asked what I thought of it. “It’s good,” I replied. “Of course, I’ve read it at least five times, so I already know it’s good.” I held up the copy of my book to show him how worn it was from the multiple readings.

“Why would you re-read it if you already know how it’s going to end?” He couldn’t understand any of the reasons I gave him and eventually I tried, “It’s the same as watching a movie you love over and over again.” He replied with a blank stare.

I know I’m not the only one who likes to indulge in old favourites (perhaps many times over). So my question today is…

What book(s) do you re-read?

I’d love to hear your answers in the comments below after you check out the great list of job opportunities I have for you.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello!

Fundraising for your project?

Are you fundraising for your current / future project?

Are you running a campaign like Kickstarter or Indiegogo?

Are you holding an online auction or some other fundraising endeavour?

I’ve been getting a lot of requests from people to share their fundraising efforts with the CAC community. We’d love to support any of your efforts by spreading the word, so I’ve set up a section dedicated to just this.

Fundraising – Looking for Backers, Donations, & Other Sources of Funds?

Leave the details and links in our Fundraising section to let us know about (and encourage support for) your project(s)!

Good luck in all of your efforts, including the job opportunities below.

Hello!

I asked two question over the last couple of days (here & here) and got a great response.

Check them out:

.

What is the role of art? Is it different than the role of the artist?

“The role of art is to exist. Challenge, question, support, beautify, testify, et cetera. Not even the artist can guarantee what it will be. Too many factors… Time, culture, politics, history; it’s all organic.” - Mat Calverley

“The role of art is to inspire, explore and illuminate the truth.” - Brittney Francis

“provoke fun, thought & interest. Without art, life would be dull. The role of the artist is to create & share with the world.” - Nav Sehambhi

“The role of art is to uplift people’s spirits. The role of the artist is to attain artistic perfection.” - LorraineHétuManifold

“‘protect the origins of language and culture’” - karhiio

.

What is the role of the artist?

“create a pathway to experience.” - dsharpdavis

“”The Role of the artist is to make their own stylized comment on the state of humanity”" - Natalia Knowlton

“the role of the artist is to suspend time, even if just for a moment.” - Jacqueline Woods

“the role of the artist is to evoke, invoke and provoke” - Bartlett Gallery

“the artist is there to express themselves through their art and allow others to relate” - Staverous Cardini

“…poke into the edges we haven’t gone into or dare not go into.” - Maggie Shirley

“The role of the artist is to fill in the blank.” - Peggy MacKinnon

“connect” - Appy Aparnski

(We had many, many more answers, so I couldn’t include them all in this post).

Do you agree/disagree with any of the above? Have thoughts of your own on the subject? Be sure to let us know in the comments below after you’ve taken a look at the awesome list of job opportunities I have for you today.

Have a wonderful day!
