JOB OPPORTUNITY – Marketing Associate,  Thousand Islands Playhouse

The Thousand Islands Playhouse, a longstanding professional theatre company based in Gananoque, Ontario,  is seeking a Marketing Associate under 30 years of age for a 12- month period beginning early in January 2012.

Working with the marketing department, the Marketing Associate will assist the Playhouse in increasing the outreach for its season activities throughout the region and in Ontario. The position is full-time, 40 hours a week. It is an entry-level position.

Specific responsibilities will include (but are not limited to)

1. Implementing communications initiatives of the Thousand Islands Playhouse’s for its events and activities, and identifying new opportunities,  through web 2.0 portals and social media.
2. Maximizing relationships between regional accommodation outlets and businesses and the company.
3. Working with the Sales and Outreach Associate to attract community groups, schools and organizations to the Thousand Islands Playhouse’s events.
4. Assisting in developing marketing partnerships with local and regional businesses.
5. Contributing to the Marketing department’s ongoing commitment to improve its initiatives by way of collecting data to be analyzed;contributing in brainstorming sessions, and conducting surveys.
6. Helping in the preparation and distribution of a wide variety of promotional support materials: brochures, posters, invitations, programmes, and flyers.

Job Qualifications

The successful applicant must have

• a diploma or certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
• fluency in written and spoken English (French an asset)
• experience or training in marketing, sales or publicity
• competency with Microsoft Office suite
• desktop publishing skills
• an outgoing attitude and problem-solving approach to the workplace
• a valid Driver’s License

Additional assets

• The ability to work independently as well as being part of a team
• Experience/interest in the performing arts
• Experience with html and design
