Canadian Arts Jobs – 08/14/12

August 14, 2012 in Jobs by Desirée Ossandon

Hello!

I’m regularly asked by CAC readers “how to get started” in one area of the arts or another, whether it be related to education, career, techniques, or other aspects of art.

One specific question I hear is how to start an art collection.

I’m asked if people should buy art because of the value of the piece or fame of the artist. I’m asked it people should start with small pieces, then move on to more daring examples. I’m asked for any advice on how to make smart purchases and good investments.

I’m curious how our community of artistic professionals (and art enthusiasts) began their own collections.

How did you start your own art collection?

How do you decide what you yourself buy and display?

Have a wonderful day!

Desirée
