Just for fun…
If money was no object, what arts related things would you do? What art related things would you buy?

I’d definitely build a studio with everything I need to print and frame my own work. I’d also travel extensively in search of new photographic subjects and locations!

Build a theatre, art gallery, and espresso bar in my community! And add a bookstore on there. Once that was done, I would focus entirely on writing, producing, and traveling in search of greater cultural awareness.

If money was no object, I would purchse a large building have it renovated and turned into a magnificent art studio for local artists in Calgary to access. I would also have a dream art studio created with an unending abundance of paint, mediums, canvas and anything else I may want and be the owner of an art gallery!!!

I would have a non stop supply of face paint and henna and balloons and I would do so many wonderful parties for kids whose parents could not afford to have a great face painter at their birthday! I just love to make kids smile and be sparkly! I truly have the best job in the world! :)

I would like to shoot documentaries about these issues that nobody wants to talk about or nobody cares.
Interesting issues of course!
;)

I would love find a beautiful spot by a lake and build a big interactive retreat for artists, dancers, musicians, actors and other creative types. It would feature a dance and drama studio, a well sound-proofed music studio, a graphic design and artist space, a sewing and craft area, a large kitchen, and comfy beds. Every night would feature a sing-along at the bonfire, and guests could preview and present works.

I would follow in the footsteps of the Firestone family.

With my children in tow, I would wander Canada, get to know artists from every corner of every province and territory and buy their work. Then I would build a gorgeous, curator/art-friendly house and open it up to the public.

Wouldn’t that be an amazing place to live?

Similar to the above, I’d buy some land in the Duck Mountains, and build a cabin in the middle of the woods, and have it decked out with a full sound studio as well as a music studio and a place to paint. Actually, the part that’s really essential for me is to live off the grid. I grew up on a farm, and I’d love to be self-sustainable for the most part again

I’d build an arts and culture centre which is desperately needed to nurture and support local artists in Markham. It would include workshop studio space, rehearsal space for music, theatre and dance, and sustainable retail space like a coffee/tea shop and bookstore.
But that’s just for the arts… then there’s… oops, not enough space to answer.

I’d like to create a new experience for people. If I had the money, I’d very much like to set up a gallery of sorts featuring local, unknown, and famous artists in the mountains. It’d have a very open and natural feel combined with whimsical architecture. I’d live on a near by ranch with my Husband and our pets, to encourage visitors to bring theirs as well. It could be a retreat from the real world in every sense of the word, because I’d have enough money to bring my quirky thoughts to life.

I would build a large studio for myself and others outfitted with the latest and best equipment – film editing, photography, printmaking – the kinds of things that are difficult if impossible for artists to own because of both price and size. I’d invite other artists into the space and we would have a gallery in the front and have fabulous parties.

I would commission a number of artists to join a company which develops stories, shows, art that is meant to inspire people to reach for the stars – for their desires – for their dreams. These works would begin to be done locally and eventually move to national and then international.

I would buy a huge coffee shop location and have it renovated so that it would have a stage, sound system etc. I would then open a very relaxed lounge/coffee shop where every weekend, I would give new playwrights, actors, musicians to perform before the crowd in order to showcase their talent. In time, I would like to build a massive reputation within the arts community, such that people would come to my place to scout for talent.

If money was no object I would have a studio at home and a gallery for local talent to show their work.
