Study Of Pose: 1,000 Poses By Coco Rocha, who has often been called “The Queen Of Pose”, and photographer Steven Sebring is just that: 1,000 poses. However, with both a master model and master photographer at the helm of this project, the Study of Pose is a “definitive and exhaustive” study of the human form and what it is capable of.
The book will “appeal to artists, photographers, fashion fans and art lovers alike.”
An incredible look at the human form in more ways than you can imagine – with inspiration such as “Grace Jones”, “”an old man”, “Jessica Rabbit” – it is an invaluable resource to those who study or are interested in the possibilities of the body.
It could be said that a great model is the reason a painter picks up his brush or, in my case, a photographer his camera. This symbiotic relationship between artist and muse is based upon a mutual understanding and respect for the human body, apparent from ancient times to the present. … This book is both a testament to and celebration of how the movement and placement of our 206 bones and 642 skeletal muscles have, and always will, captivate and inspire artists in the creation of the world’s greatest art. —Coco Rocha
With the positions fully documented, the duo took the project further by making each pose fully interactive. Readers have the ability to spin, zoom, and examine the figure in detail from every angle.
The two worked together on his experimental 360 degree “rig” for a few years before attempting to create The Study Of Pose – a book which catalogs over 1000 unique poses, each captured from 100 angles. The result was 100,000 completely unique images. Taking the concept one step further, each pose has the ability to become interactive in the book’s companion program that shows each pose in 360 degrees.
Study of Pose is a fascinating look at the human body and what it can portray through stance and positioning alone.
Study Of Pose: 1,000 Poses By Coco Rocha will be released on October 28, 2014 by Harper Design.
