New York Public Library Puts 20,000 Hi-Res Maps Online and Makes Them Free to Use

In the ongoing trend of organizations digitizing their collections and making them freely available for use by the public (which is awesome, by the way!), the New York Public Library has put 20,000 hi-res maps online and has made them free to download and use.

The new Open Access Maps project at the New York Public Library hopes that by making the maps available to the public, the pieces will “enable their use in the broadest possible ways by the largest number of people.”
