What role does the investigative novel play in our need for information? What is the process of making a headline story or public figure’s biography an investigative novel?
A one day literary event focusing on investigative writing with authors Stevie Cameron, Ted Fontaine, Terry Gould, Jerry Langton, and Barbara Mintzes with panelists David Beers, Scott McIntyre, and Hal Wake. Discuss the process of delving into a single topic for an extended period of time: the research tactics, dealing with (and protecting) sources, maintaining a factual record, how to ensure, if possible, a professional distance from the subject matter. There will be a discussion of the importance of investigative writing and the role it plays beyond newspaper and magazine writing.
